Apprentice 2010 when was it filmed
Combing Arthurian lore with a certain segment from "Fantasia," "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" has its roots in minor Disneyana.
The narrative is more than just an offshoot from "The Sword in the Stone" and Mickey facing off against living brooms, however. It is a fully formed hero quest where a young wizard discovers his talents and…. The script admittedly leaves quite a bit to be desired, but nonetheless, The Sorcerer's Apprentice makes for a enjoyable fantasy film with fun characters, strong performances, beautiful cinematography and visual effects, and entertaining action sequences.
Considering the amount of lame films that get the sequel treatment I am so very disappointed the world has let this potential franchise fall by the wayside. Stylish and sumptuously filmed in a deep vibrant palette of colours with magical abilities that are both delightfully cool and surprisingly believable if magic were to exist, obviously.
Nic Cage finds the perfect balance of whacky and pathos and creates a great character who could easily return for further installments.
Alfred Molina is always a sure bet for a mustache twirling villain and while he lacks anything as iconic as 4 metal arms he does at least lavish his performance with a suitable amount of boo-hiss. It's not terrible , but you'd think a movie starring Nicolas Cage as a wizard would be a lot more entertaining than this.
