She rallied to bat. She reached those and more during a remarkable run that saw her win about every honor she could.
UCLA won national championships in her freshman and junior years, in and , and was the runner-up in her sophomore and a senior seasons in and In , she was with a 0. She allowed just 77 hits and had 22 shutouts. In her senior season, Fernandez led the nation in both hitting and pitching.

You have to be thankful and be able to give back. Lakers legend and Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor dies at Thamel: March delivering the madness after two-year hiatus. An Orange County mom has filed a police complaint after her daughter was left with a concussion from a sucker punch during a youth basketball game. To lose three in a row and then come back, for me, that was an impressive feat. Fernandez shone throughout, and her star rose further. A brilliant collegiate player for UCLA, she was one of the few softball players who made a professional living from the game and through endorsements, with a range of Lisa Fernandez bats and mitts available. It was all made possible by her genius as a pitcher, although the humble Californian, now 49, believes she also benefitted from good luck.
